Welcome to La Quinta Neighbors!
The proposed Troutdale Village project, which is located at Avenue 50 and Washington in La Quinta, CA consists of numerous, gigantic, towering high-rises on a parcel of land that is nowhere close to being zoned for that kind of thing. The project was nearly voted down by the City of La Quinta Planning Commission after a marathon public hearing that saw dozens of residents speak out about the effects that the 284-unit Troutdale Village would have on traffic, parking in the area, nearby schools & school children, quality of life, and more.
And while very few La Quinta residents would be against another type of development that makes sense in the area, drastically altering the City of La Quinta’s General Plan in order to cram a bunch of towers onto a small plot of land would forever change not only the neighborhood, but the city as a whole.
The Mayor has already come out against high-rises in the city and, to this point, it’s hard to find few if any residents who support drastically changing the city we call home in order to accommodate an out-of-state developer’s plans.
We ask that you, please, write to the planning commission and city council and, if you can, attend and speak at public meetings when the project is discussed. It’s hard to take on out-of-town interests with large pockets, but it can be done, if we all work together.

Troutdale Village Project Rebrands as La Quinta Village Apartments

But, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, the project is still under consideration, even though the Mayor has clearly stated she does not support high rises in the neighborhood. This [...]

La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans: ‘I don’t like to do high rises’
Plans for towering complex of high rises at Avenue 50 and Washington in La Quinta are seeking approval from the city and its leaders. As there would still be several steps and approvals before reaching the city council for a final vote, during the 2022 election, Mayor Linda Evans was asked about her thoughts on rezoning that exact lot for a much taller building and had some strong thoughts on it. […]
So How Tall Would La Quinta Troutdale Village Be?
Troutdale Village, a proposed towering apartment complex at Washington and Avenue 50 in La Quinta, has requested approval to be re-zoned for a variety of standards that the city has had on the books for many years. These include a smaller than standard living area for the apartments, allowing carports on the front yard setback, and, perhaps most shockingly, allow for much higher buildings to be constructed than what is currently on the books for code compliance. […]
